Assisted Living Reviews for Ramsey Village

My husband has been at Ramsey Village for about three weeks now and he seems to be doing OK there. Everybody there is very friendly and very helpful. We like working with the nurses and the staff in the office. It has a home-like atmosphere. I am not allowed in the dining room, so I have not tried their food, but my husband likes the food there. They have movie days where they watch movies and have popcorn. They take the residents out on trips. They'll do just about anything that you need help with.

I toured Ramsey Village for my mother. It was a nice place, but it had that nursing home feel. They had the assisted living part and more of a nursing part on another floor. It wasn't that cozy. It had that hospital feel. The room that I saw was a suite. It was OK. It wasn't anything special, and it wasn't very big. The staff were great. They were nice, toured me around, and answered all of my questions. They had some games and things to play. They had groups that played cards. There was an exercise room, and they had a salon.

My grandmother moved to Ramsey Village. So far, they're very caring and considerate. They're meeting the needs that are needed even though they're short-staffed. She said that the food is very good, she gets homemade everything, so she has no complaints. They have bingo and crocheting, and they have a calendar with everything on it. Somebody comes in and does the toenails and the fingernails. They also have bingo twice a week but what they haven't done is go on outings, that's the only downfall so far. They don't have a whole therapy area at all, while the other places that we looked at had a therapy room. Right now she's not getting as much therapy as she wants, she's not getting the walking that she needs. They do laundry for her, they come in and clean the room, change the sheets, and they help with putting her hearing aids in. I haven't had any problems. The building itself is very clean and she likes the food. I think there could be more activities.

I thought Ramsey Village was OK, but the assisted living felt more like a nursing home. The rooms and the dining room were nice. They had two different dining rooms that people could choose from. They bring in people to do activities with them. It was less expensive than the other place I visited. It was clean. It wasn't dirty by any means. It's just an older facility. I only met one staff and she seemed fine. The difference between going from there to the other place was the other one felt homier. They need some upgrades to make it feel less institutional and more like a home.

We visited Ramsey Village. It was nice. We didn't really like the views from the rooms. It was an older facility, but it was really pretty nice. For my mom, I didn't like the layout of the place. To me, it would be more confusing for her just the way the hallways are laid out and stuff. It was confusing to me. One of the rooms we saw had a view of the woods, which was OK. It was just an older facility. The staff was fine. The business lady was the only person we really met there.

My brother picked Ramsey Village for mom because of its good rating. She's in enhanced assisted living, but it has a nursing home too. I met with the staff and talked to them. They're not perfect, but they've done a good job. I'm happy with them. I discussed mom's care and they were interested and listening to me. She said the food most of the time is fine, but sometimes she doesn't like it. She's been there three months now. They don't have too many activities with COVID still going on, but they do a really good job with the facility. It looks really good, and everything looks clean and nice. They're very reasonably priced. Compared to most other places, I think their price is very good. It's centrally located. It's easy to get there, and it's near Drake University.

I visited Ramsey Village. We looked at long-term care, assisted living, and independent living. A current resident showed me her living arrangement. She walked through what she loved about living there. There were lots of activities. It seemed that a lot of people were out of their rooms interacting with each other. The dining area was very clean. The residents were enjoying the food. The servers were super responsive. It was great.

We toured Ramsey Village and I had mixed feelings about it. I felt you couldn't go from A to B without a going through a locked door, you felt locked in, and it needed updating. It was built in the 1930's. The staff was very nice, the residents were watching the eclipse with glasses on, and it was a fun environment.

Ramsey Village was very pleasant, it seemed a friendly place, and they had lots of things going on. The grounds were adequate, it was accessible, and the price was about average. They were very friendly, and I would recommend them.

We're happy with Mom's placement at Ramsey Village. I had very specific criteria I was looking for, and they had those. The staff is excellent, and I can tell they're well-trained in their areas. Mom is in a memory care unit right now and requires a lot of physical help, but the staff works well with the people. I've visited on numerous occasions, and I've never seen anything that's a concern to me. They are fulfilling what we needed for her. They offer several levels of care too, so if she progresses from one into the other, they can accommodate that, so that's another big plus for them.

We visited Ramsey Village for my mother. It was very nice. The staff seemed very nice too. The rooms were very nice. None of them was big, but they were adequate. I didn't see as much as activities as the other two places, but they did have live entertainment. The common dining-area was nice. It was big. The facility was OK. It was clean. They were very friendly. It seemed like a safe place.

My mother-in-law visited and had a list of places to see while she was in the area. On her list was Ramsey Village. Right away, you notice the state of the place. Everything looks pristine from the outside. The lawn care and maintenance was top notch. We are in a drought in our area, but there was no yellow grass, it was well managed. Once we got inside, it was more of the same. The commons room was in great shape. The whole facility was in pristine shape. Some of the rooms had some stuff around, but that was because the residents have more independence. I saw a nurse helping one lady with cleaning, so it seems that if you want or need help with cleaning it is available, but if you want a "lived in" look, you can do it yourself. The amenities were pretty nice. A major bonus, is that even in a walk through, you can get prices. You don't have to talk to a manger or anything, you can just get a printout with the options and costs. It's very upfront. It was more like a hotel in its style and cleanliness than an assisted living home. Very professionally run. It's very high on my mother-in-law's list.

Independent Living Reviews for Ramsey Village

I had a friend who was at Ramsey Village for five years. I toured it recently, and they showed me what they had available for rent. They got two-bedrooms: one bedroom on each side, and then a bathroom on each side and a main room between them. It was only $2400 a month, which I thought was pretty good. They had some exercise equipment, a movie room where you could sit around tables and watch a movie, and activities (I just don't think that their activities were as frequent as the other facility I looked at). Their apartments had a balcony where you could go out, and the rooms were nice and comfortable. They had a kitchenette in the main room. It was a nice-looking building with comfortable surroundings. They only had ten independent living rooms. So in terms of the activities, camaraderie, fellowship, or meeting people, you may need more than that. I think their main emphasis was their assisted living. If you get sick or something, you can move right into assisted living and so on. My health is pretty good (unless I get some kind of disease onset), and so I shouldn't need assisted living for quite some time. However, for some people, it might be a great situation for them.

We toured the independent living at Ramsey Village. It and the people were nice. The facility had been built in the 1950s and it looked like it. We toured a couple of units that looked OK. There were very limited grounds if any at all. It seemed like they had 11 acres but they hadn't developed anything besides two, and they had this big facility sitting on that so it felt kind of cramped and crowded. The person who gave us the tour was very nice. I'd rate her a 5. The dining area wasn't as open and spacious, so it wasn't a winner.

My visit at Ramsey Village was interesting. They offer all three levels of care. The community is a little remote and not close to things like shopping. The only thing it's close to is Drake University. But it's a good place, and they're also the least expensive of the places I've looked at. They showed me a 1-bedroom apartment, and they were perfectly adequate, with good lighting and administration. The dining area is large enough for holding the crowd that they're dealing with.

We will be moving into Ramsey Village in May. Our visit was wonderful. We ate a good meal there, and the staff was very friendly. Everyone asked if we needed anything, and it seemed like the price was OK. The security seemed fine since we had a code to get in and out. It seemed to be in a rough neighborhood, but they never had any trouble.

I am/was a resident of this facility
I'm in Ramsey Village. They have really good food. I'm in full care, and I've been here for over three weeks now. Some of the staff are good, some of them aren't very good. You get an excellent one, and the next day, you might have one that's very good. The food is excellent. There is a lot of variety, and it's homemade food. I can't complain about the food at all. They have movies and singing. If I want to go, they offer a lot. They have a patio and patio furniture where you can go out and sit. I'm sharing a room with another resident, but it's roomy. There's nothing wrong with it for a shared room. You have to share the bathroom, but it's very clean. A lady comes in and cleans them every day. They're pretty good. They do the best they can.

My dad was in Ramsey Village for rehab for 4 weeks. This place has assisted living too. It's amazing, they did an amazing job, and it's a beautiful place. The staff was amazing, and gave us great service. They provided him with occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. He didn't eat in the dining area because he was on pureed food while he was there. I would rate the staff the highest rating because they're the reason why he gets to come home. He wasn't involved in a lot of activities because of the COVID. Because of the COVID, we weren't able to go in. In terms of value for the money, they're just as average as anybody else.

I went to Ramsey Village, but they're too expensive. The gal that showed me around I liked. The gal that I was really supposed to meet with and talked to, I didn't care for too much. The rooms are better than the other place I toured because they had the people across from each other instead of side by side. The living atmosphere seemed pretty nice. They had several areas where they could sit, and they had a little garden area. It's older, so it was kind of nice and charming. I didn't try the food, but they sent me home with cookies that were delicious. They had a lot of people come in with their pets. There was one guy leaving that had his two dogs. They welcome people to bring their pets in, which I thought that was kind of neat. I can't remember what they had going on. They have quite a few different activities and different people coming in.

My mother was at Ramsey Village for about three years, so I was there quite a bit. I was not impressed. She was in memory care; I don't know if I liked anything about it. The staff didn't take good care of her. It just wasn't a good situation. They did their best to get her fed and she seemed to do OK with the food. They seemed to have quite a few activities, but they never took her to any of them, so I wasn't real happy with that. This was before Covid, so they let people come in and play music. It was extremely expensive.
